Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is the most common disease in the world that causes high mortality, mortality, and has financial effects, especially for sufferers. Types of heart disease include heart failure, coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and congenital heart disease. World Health Statistics data states that in 2019, cardiovascular disease accounted for 18.6 million deaths globally. Heart failure is a condition in which the heart cannot pump blood throughout the body. Based on the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018, around 2,784,064 people in Indonesia suffer from heart disease. Patients with heart problems need adequate rest because good sleep will repair heart muscle cells. Handling of sleep pattern disorders in ICU patients can be done in two ways, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Pharmacological therapy has a rapid effect but is harmful to health if too much is consumed. Examples of drugs include propofol, dextemedetomidine, and benzodiazepines. Providing non-pharmacological therapy can be done in various ways such as exercise therapy, back massage, hypnosis, virtual reality meditation therapy, etc. Virtual Reality (VR) technology is a three-dimensional or 3D technology by displaying images and videos in the form of media so that the results will look more real and make a person in the virtual world. This research instrument uses the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The final result of this study is that there is a significant decrease in PSQI scores. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of virtual reality meditation can improve the sleep quality of heart failure patients.
