Abstract
Along with the development of science in the field of shipping, ideas or innovations arise in improving ship performance. As well as making a ship that has many hulls or so-called multihull. This study aims to analyze the resistance of the tetramaran vessel which is varied into asymmetrical hulls and to compare the resistance of the symmetrical tetramaran with the CFD method with the tetramaran vessel using the Surface Panel Method. The resistance itself is the fluid force acting on the ship in such a way as to oppose the movement of a ship. Ship resistance is influenced by several components such as friction, pressure, wave power, and fluid viscosity. The ship model used is a ship with a wigley hull and is varied into an asymmetric hull which consists of 2 types, namely, asymmetry flat inboard and asymmetry flat outboard. The tetramaran hull configuration was determined by an X/L 0 and Y/L 0.15 ratio for the main hull, while X/L 0.5 and Y/L 0.3 for the side hull configuration. Analysis of the drag on the tetramaran ship using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method with variations in Froude number: 0.3; 0.4; 0.5; 0.6; and 0.7. From the analysis results, it is found that the average deviation of the total resistance value of m1 using the CFD method and m0 using the Surface Panel Method is 22.55%, between m1 and m2 is 12.54%, and the average deviation of the total resistance value is m1 and m3. by 8.34%. Thus, this research can provide an understanding of the resistance in symmetric and asymmetric tetramaran vessels and can be further developed on this topic.
