Abstract
This study aims to find out how the motives, experiences, and meaning of self-disclosure of mate seekers in finding a life partner through the Tinder application. The phenomenon of self-disclosure in the subject of this study cannot be described quantitatively because it is experienced differently by each subject, therefore researchers need to use qualitative methods, especially the phenomenological approach because this approach is the most appropriate way to interpret or interpret the experience of self-disclosure. The informants in this study were 5 (five) people who were selected based on the researcher's criteria, namely, married individuals whose relationship started on Tinder. The theory in this study is the theory of self-disclosure. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings in this study, namely, the motive for self-disclosure in finding a life partner through the online dating application Tinder was carried out to get to know more about Tinder partners. The experience of self-disclosure in finding a life partner through the online dating application Tinder results in a positive and enjoyable experience. Interpreting self-disclosure as the initial intention in using Tinder, if the initial intention is to find a life partner, then fully open yourself so that there are no lies to each other until the marriage stage. The level of self-disclosure of informants in finding a life partner through the online dating application Tinder tends to choose an open area window, meaning that informants tend to be open to Tinder partners who match with them because they remember their motives for using Tinder, namely to find friends and also have a sense of belonging. interest in Tinder partners.
