Abstract
Mental health issues have currently become a primary concern among the Indonesian public, with rising cases of stress and clinical depression often rooted in the accumulation of negative emotions and unaddressed deep grief. This study aims to analyze the representation of this emotional grieving process within a pop culture product, specifically the music video (MV) Semua Aku Dirayakan by Nadin Amizah on the YouTube platform. The theoretical approach integrates the Five Stages of Grief theory by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and David Kessler (2005), encompassing denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, with Stuart Hall’s constructionist approach regarding the production of meaning through representation systems. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method utilizing Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic model. The process of signification is deconstructed through the triadic relationship among representamen, object, and interpretant, as well as the sign trichotomy analysis which includes icons, indices, and symbols across the music video scenes. This study concludes that the MV serves as a cultural bridge utilizing the language of signs to produce the meaning of grief. Through unique visual and linguistic codes, this work successfully translates the subject's mental concepts into a symbolic reality that assists the audience in comprehending the depth of emotion surrounding a loss.
