Abstract

This study analyzes the dominant beauty standards and aesthetic bias revealed through hate comments on the TikTok account @zsazsautari. This study employs Krippendorff’s qualitative content analysis method. The research data consist of 136 hate comments analyzed based on the patterns of meaning emerging from the comments. The findings reveal three dominant beauty standards, namely fair skin as a beauty standard, specific facial features as an aesthetic standard, and ideal appearance as a form of social acceptance capital. These findings indicate that skin color, facial features, and appearance become the basis for evaluating an individual’s beauty and social value. Hate comments also reveal aesthetic bias through negative judgments, comparisons, and the attribution of value to individuals based on their physical appearance. Therefore, hate comments on the TikTok account @zsazsautari represent social constructions of beauty and demonstrate that digital spaces contribute to reproducing beauty standards and aesthetic bias within Indonesian society.
