Abstract
Background: Hyperemesis gravidarum is an episode of nausea and vomiting that is so intense that it disrupts daily routines and affects general health. These symptoms can also lead to dehydration, electrolyte and metabolic imbalance, malnutrition, and ketonuria. Objective: This case study aims to document nursing care for Mrs. G who experienced hyperemesis gravidarum in the first trimester at South Tangerang General Hospital. Method: This case study applies a simple de-scriptive research approach (case study) that was qualitative and quantitative in nature in the form of nursing care. Information collection on Mrs. G was carried out through interview techniques, observation and direct examination. Results: The findings of the analysis indicated that Mrs. G experienced hyperemesis grav-idarum with a Pregnancy Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea score of 11. Nursing diagnoses found included nausea, risk of hypovolemia and knowledge deficit. After the intervention for 3x24 hours, there was an increase in knowledge as indicated by the Pregnancy Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nause score decreasing to 6 behaviors that correspond to eating patterns when nauseated, questions about the current condition decreasing. Conclusion: All diagnoses were resolved completely or partially because Mrs. G was able to un-derstand and repeat the educational information provided, was cooperative when receiving aromatherapy, and was able to carry out all independent actions taught by the nurse.
