Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with an increased prevalence and risk of causing complications, especially in the elderly who often experience instability in glucose levels due to low adherence to therapy. This study aims to describe the family nursing care of Mrs. S, in Pancoran Mas Village. This case study uses a descriptive design with a family nursing process approach. The intervention was carried out for three days within 1x40 minutes, through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and review of medical documentation. It was found that the problem of instability of blood glucose levels was related to Mrs. S's inadequate diet and non-compliance was related to the inadequacy of Mrs. S's understanding (lack of motivation to take medication). Interventions in the form of diabetic foot exercises and motivation with the use of medicine boxes increased Mrs. S’s knowledge and compliance. Blood sugar levels during (GDS) decreased from 308 mg/dL to 290 mg/dL in three days. The application of family nursing care combined with diabetic foot exercises and motivation to take medication with the use of medicine boxes, effectively increases therapy adherence and helps reduce blood glucose levels. Active family involvement is key in supporting successful management of diabetes mellitus and prevention of complications.
