Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia, as one of the most common mental disorders, remains a serious problem due to its chronic nature. One of the most common symptoms experienced by patients with schizophrenia is sensory perception disturbances, such as hallucinations, which, if left untreated, can lead to dangerous behavior. Nurses play a crucial role in managing hallucinations. Objective: This paper aims to describe the application of nursing care in patients with sensory perception disorders in the form of auditory hallucinations comprehensively. Methods: The method used is a case study with a nursing process approach that includes the stages of study, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in a systematic and continuous manner. Results: Results showed that patients experienced symptoms of hearing command sounds, restlessness, frequent self-talk, sleep disturbances, and inability to control emotions. The interventions provided include psychopharmaceutical therapy and implementation strategies such as reprimanding techniques, medication adherence, therapeutic communication, and scheduled activities. Although there is a slight improvement, hallucination symptoms still appear so that the patient's response is not optimal and requires further monitoring. Conclusions: Nursing care in patients with auditory hallucinations requires a comprehensive, sustainable, and consistent approach through a combination of pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions to improve patients' ability to control hallucinations and prevent recurrence. Family and health worker support is essential for the success of long-term therapy.
