Abstract
This study aims to analyze the political branding of Yudha Permana in the 2024 Legislative Election in Electoral District (Dapil) 10 of DKI Jakarta. The focus of this research is on conventional campaign strategies and the use of social media as a medium for shaping political image. Political branding is understood as an integrated process of political communication that combines the candidate’s personal identity, on the ground political activities, and symbolic representation through digital media. This study employs Bruce I. Newman’s political branding theory, which consists of four elements: Product, Promotion, Place, and Price (4P). A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method is applied in this research. Data were collected through in depth interviews with four key informants, including the candidate, a campaign team member, an election supervisor, and a political observer. The findings indicate that conventional campaigning plays a central role in building Yudha Permana’s political image as a figure who is close to the community. Direct engagement with citizens, open interpersonal communication, and involvement in social activities contribute to the formation of a strong “grassroots oriented” perception among voters. Meanwhile, Instagram functions as a supporting platform that expands the reach of political communication and maintains continuous interaction with voters. The success of political branding is not solely determined by the intensity of campaign activities, but also by authenticity, consistency, and the candidate’s ability to build long term relationships with voters. These findings suggest that the integration of on the ground political work and social media utilization represents a relevant and effective strategy in the context of legislative elections in urban areas.
