Abstract
Non-traumatic visits to the emergency room include abdominal pain, which ranks high every year. In a noisy, stressful, and minimally private ER environment, pain and anxiety are often under treated, triggering adverse physiological responses such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, and hormonal stress activation, which exacerbate discomfort and reduce patient satisfaction. This study aims to analyze nursing care, specifically the application of pre-recorded instrumental music/meditation therapy interventions on the pain and anxiety scales of dyspepsia patients in the ED. The method used in this study was a case study of two dyspepsia patients experiencing pain and anxiety in the ER. The intervention provided was pre-recorded instrumental/meditation music therapy with a beat of 60-80 bpm for 30 minutes using headphones to minimize distractions from environmental factors. The instruments used were the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and the Face Anxiety Scale (FAS). The results of the intervention showed that pre-recorded music therapy influenced changes in NRS and FAS values in a positive direction, with a decrease in pain scale of 4 and no anxiety after the intervention. It can be concluded that pre-recorded instrumental/meditation music therapy can be recommended as an effective non-pharmacological approach to reduce pain and anxiety in patients with dyspepsia in the ED.
