Abstract
Preoperative anxiety is a psychological issue frequently experienced by patients before undergoing surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A high level of anxiety can affect the patient’s physiological condition and have an impact on the surgical process as well as postoperative recovery. A number of recent clinical studies have shown that EFT can rapidly and consistently reduce anxiety through acupressure point stimulation, making it highly relevant for patients experiencing preoperative anxiety. This study aims to analyze nursing care through the application of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to reduce anxiety levels in preoperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients in the Central Surgery Installation. This research employed a case study method involving two patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The assessment covered both physiological and psychological aspects of preoperative patients. The nursing intervention, in the form of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), was administered for 25–30 minutes, one hour before the surgical procedure, while the patient was in the pre-operative room.Evaluation was conducted using the Surgical Fear Questionnaire (SFQ) and Subjective Units of Disturbance (SUD) instruments. The results showed a significant reduction in anxiety levels in both patients. In the main case, the SFQ score decreased from 51 to 23 and the SUD score from 5 to 2, while in the summary case, the SFQ score decreased from 47 to 26 and the SUD score from 4 to 2. The application of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) was effective in reducing anxiety levels in preoperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients. This therapy can be recommended as part of complementary nursing interventions to enhance patients’ emotional readiness prior to surgery.
