Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the representation of sexual violence in the film Women from rote island using Roland Barthes semiotic study. The study was conducted by selecting scenes that symbolize the representation of sexual violence and then examined using denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using Roland Barthes semiotic analysis of denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings. In this study, the data collection techniques used are observation and documentation techniques. The results of the study indicate that there is a representation of sexual violence in the film Women from rote island. The study resulted in 8 shots of scenes in the film that represent sexual violence.
