Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a major public health issue in Indonesia; prevention efforts can be implemented through health education for mothers to improve their knowledge of appropriate complementary feeding (CF), which supports optimal practices during the first 1,000 days of life. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of health education on mothers’ knowledge of stunting prevention through appropriate MP-ASI in the working area of Pengasinan Public Health Center, Depok City. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design without a control group was conducted among 40 mothers selected using purposive sampling, with data analyzed using the Wilcoxon test at a 95% confidence level. Results: The findings showed a significant effect of health education on mothers’ knowledge of stunting prevention, indicated by a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Health education has a significant effect on improving mothers’ knowledge of stunting prevention through appropriate complementary feeding (CF) at Posyandu Anggrek I Bedahan, Pengasinan Public Health Center. Suggestion: Future studies are recommended to include direct interventions such as complementary feeding practices accompanied by mentoring to enhance mothers’ skills and proper implementation of MP-ASI.
