Abstract
This study aims to determine the influence of candidate appearance on the political preferences of Generation Z in the context of Komeng's unique photos in the 2024 DPD general election. The two theoretical bases in this study were heuristic theory and theory rational choice theory. This research used a quantitative approach with survey method. Data analysis was carried out in six stages, namely: validity test, reliability test, normality test,linearity test, heteroscedasticity test, and hypothesis test. The validity test showed that one item is not valid. The reliability test produced a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.639 for variable X and 0.663 for variable Y, which means that the measuring instrument was reliable. The normality test showed that the data was normally distributed because the significance value was greater than 0.05. The linearity test showed a linear relationship between the two variables, and the heteroscedasticity test showed no signs of heteroscedasticity in the regression model The correlation test shows that there is a strong relationship between the variables. Hypothesis testing was conducted using simple linear regression analysis with IBM SPSS 26 software. The results of this study show an asymp sig value of 0.000, which means that there is an influence between the candidate's appearance and the political preferences of Generation Z. The coefficient of determination shows that 50% of the variation in the political preference variable of Generation Z can be explained by the variable of Komeng's photo appearance. Meanwhile, the remaining 50% is influenced by other variables not mentioned in this study. Thus, it can be concluded that the variable of Komeng's photo appearance has a significant effect on the variable of Generation Z's political preferences.
