Abstract
West Java ranks second nationally for workplace accidents. PT PLN Nusantara Power Muara Tawar Plant is located in West Java and has a high number of reports of unsafe conditions and unsafe action, namely 811 reports in the last 8 months that have the potential to lead to untoward incidents, including workplace accidents. This study aims to deternine the relationship between cognitive trust in work supervisors and worker’s safety behavior focusing on several factors such as individual characteristics, level of safety leadership, safety knowledge, job stress, workload, cognitive trust, and affective trust. It was carried out on 106 samples from 166 populations obtained through purposive sampling techniques. Bivariate data analysis uses the chi-square test to determine there is a relationship between the two variables being tested. The result showed that work period (POR: 0,75), education (POR: 24,85), safety leadership (POR: 5,21), safety knowledge (POR: 5,71), cognitive trust (POR: 0,69), and affective trust (POR: 14,66) had a significant relationship with safety behavior. There is a relationship between cognitive beliefs and worker safety behavior. Companies and workers can maintain the level of safety behavior and other supporting factors by increasing compliance with policies, SOPs, and actively participating to all safety programs provided.
