Abstract

Safety climate perception reflects workers’ assessments of the implementation of occupational safety and health (OSH) in the workplace. One factor that may influence this perception is worker empowerment in safety management. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between worker empowerment in safety management and safety climate perception among construction workers at PT X, while considering age, length of employment, and education level. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected from November to December 2025 from 77 construction workers selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments used were the NOSACQ-50 and the Psychological Empowerment questionnaire, and data were analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between worker empowerment in safety management and safety climate perception (p-value = 0.001). These findings indicate that better worker empowerment in safety management is associated with a more positive safety climate perception; therefore, the company is recommended to routinely implement toolbox meeting programs that actively involve construction workers in sharing potential hazards, near-miss experiences, and proposed risk control measures before work activities begin.
