Abstract

Expressed breast milk is one of the alternatives to breastfeeding that is widely used by working mothers to continue to meet their babies' nutritional needs. The quality of expressed breast milk is greatly influenced by how it is stored and thawed, as improper storage and thawing can reduce its nutritional content and increase the risk of contamination, which can potentially affect the baby's growth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the methods of storing and thawing expressed breast milk and the growth of infants aged 0–6 months among mothers in the city of Depok. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach and a total sampling of 391 respondents. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. Statistical analysis results showed a significant relationship between breast milk storage methods and infant growth (p < 0.001) and a significant relationship between breast milk thawing methods and infant growth (p < 0.001). This study shows that proper breast milk storage and thawing methods play an important role in supporting the growth of infants aged 0–6 months.
