Abstract

The X account @HaveAnEyesDay is one of the active change agents discussing current issues and news in the social and political sphere in Indonesia, one of which was during the Aksi Kawal Putusan MK movement. The Aksi Kawal Putusan MK movement is one of the protest movements that emerged from the X platform. This movement emerged as a result of public outrage over the unconstitutional actions of the Indonesian House of Representatives, particularly the Legislative Body, regarding its plan to alter the Constitutional Court's decision on the Regional Election Law. This study aims to examine the role of X @HaveAnEyesDay in facilitating the Aksi Kawal Putusan MK Movement, particularly within the social media sphere, using Habermas's Theory of the Public Sphere, based on the Public Sphere theoretical framework and the three ideal criteria of the bourgeois public sphere: common humanity, common concern, and inclusivity. This study employs a case study method with a qualitative approach. The findings reveal that the X @HaveAnEyesDay account plays a role in mobilizing protest participants and providing an interactive communication space. Additionally, the X @HaveAnEyesDay account contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of government policies' impact on community life. This study found that the X platform, as an inclusive space, has its own challenges, including the threat of the ITE Law and the prevalence of fake news.
