Abstract
Lifestyle in this era and technological advances have exposed Gen-Z to increasingly complex financial management challenges. This study analyzes how Gen-Z perceives money and how these perceptions shape their personal accounting behaviour and basic financial intelligence. Employing a qualitative, phenomenological approach, the study explores informants' life experiences through in-depth interviews, identifying noema (apparent meaning) and noesis (consciousness process) linked to financial behavior. Findings indicate that Gen-Z's financial intelligence is shaped by emotional context, personal experiences, and values such as self-reward, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), and YOLO (You Only Live Once). Their personal accounting practices are simple, on the other hand they reflect basic financial intelligence, particularly in tracking expenses, saving money, and using financial management apps. The results of this study can be used as a reference for Gen-Z to make wiser consumption decisions, distinguish between needs and wants, and develop savings and investment strategies.
