Abstract
Objective This study aimed to describe the characteristics of conventional executive function and transcendental executive function and to analyze the relationship between the two among the population of Palembang City using the Psychological Assessment of Spiritual Health and Brain Function Screening (PASH BRAINS) instrument. Method This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 197 respondents from the population of Palembang City were included based on predetermined inclusion criteria. Data were collected online using the PASH BRAINS questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was conducted to describe the characteristics of the variables, while correlational analysis was performed to examine the relationship between conventional executive function and transcendental executive function. Result The results showed that the majority of respondents were categorized as having mild impairment of conventional executive function, while transcendental executive function was predominantly in the functional category. Correlational analysis revealed a significant relationship between conventional executive function and transcendental executive function. Conclusion There is a significant relationship between conventional executive function and transcendental executive function among the population of Palembang City. Cognitive and emotional regulation play a fundamental role in the development of meaning in life and transcendental awareness, which is consistent with the religious and communal cultural characteristics of the Palembang population.
