Abstract

Public preference in channeling Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) is an important factor in optimizing ZIS fund collection in Indonesia. Despite the availability of digital platforms developed by the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas), the transition from conventional to digital ZIS distribution still faces challenges. As a Smart City, Jakarta has significant potential for digital ZIS development, making it necessary to examine the determinants of public preference. This study aims to analyze the influence of zakat literacy, religiosity, and digital payment on the preferences of Jakarta residents in channeling ZIS through Baznas’s digital platform. This study employs a quantitative approach with purposive sampling involving 140 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4.0. The results show that zakat literacy and religiosity have a positive and significant effect on public preference, while digital payment has no significant effect. These findings indicate that public preference in using Baznas’s digital platform is more strongly influenced by religious understanding and sharia compliance than by the technical convenience of digital payment. The study implies the importance of strengthening zakat literacy and improving the quality of Baznas’s digital platform.
