Abstract

The reality of internet usage in Indonesia as of February 2025, according to a survey by We Are Social, indicates that 143 million people, or 50.2% of the total population, are internet users. This data suggests a high level of digital technology and social media adoption across the country. The significant number of internet users has contributed to the rising popularity of YouTube as a major platform for information dissemination. One prominent regional leader who has successfully utilized YouTube as a strategic platform to communicate directly and broadly with the public is the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi through one of the interesting contents from Kang Dedi Mulyadi's Youtube channel regarding the content of the prohibition of study tours for schools in West Java. This study aims to determine the influence of source credibility and argument quality of content on Dedi Mulyadi’s YouTube channel on the positive attitude response of Generation Z toward the West Java local government. This research adopts a quantitative approach with an explanatory method. The population consists of followers of Kang Dedi Mulyadi originating from West Java, selected using purposive sampling with criteria including birth years from 1997 to 2012 and current domicile in West Java. A total of 100 respondents were determined using the Slovin formula. The findings reveal that H1 is accepted: the quality of arguments on Dedi Mulyadi’s YouTube channel significantly influences the positive attitude response of Generation Z toward the West Java local government. H2 is also accepted: the source credibility on the channel significantly influences the same positive response. The combined influence of argument quality and source credibility accounts for 78.8% of the variance in Generation Z's positive attitude response, while the remaining 22.2% is influenced by other variables outside the scope of this research.
