Abstract
Background: Bronchial asthma is a common chronic respiratory disease in children and poses a significant global health issue. This study aims to explore the prevalence, triggers, and management of asthma in children, focusing on the case of An. T, a 13-year-old patient treated at the Soedirman Central Defense Hospital.. Method: A descriptive approach was used with a case study design, including anamnesis, physical examination, and nursing interventions. Results: The assessment revealed complaints of shortness of breath, productive cough, and nasal congestion. Trigger factors included a family history of asthma and excessive physical activity. Vital signs indicated an increased respiratory rate and wheezing. Three nursing diagnoses were identified: ineffective airway clearance, ineffective breathing pattern, and sleep pattern disturbance. Nursing interventions included asthma management, respiratory monitoring, and education for the patient and family. Implementation was carried out gradually with daily monitoring. Evaluation showed partial resolution in asthma management, a decrease in respiratory rate, and improved understanding of respiratory monitoring and better sleep patterns. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of health education for clients and families in managing asthma, as well as the need to create a safe environment to reduce the frequency of asthma attacks, thereby improving the quality of life for the client. Keywords: Nursing Care, Bronchial Asthma, Adolescents, Education.
