Abstract
Dysphagia is a common complication experienced by patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke, which significantly increases the risk of aspiration and adversely affects quality of life. Shaker Exercise is a non-pharmacological rehabilitation intervention aimed at strengthening the suprahyoid muscles to improve swallowing function through enhanced opening of the upper esophageal sphincter. This scientific paper aims to analyze the implementation of nursing care incorporating Shaker Exercise as an intervention to support the recovery of swallowing function in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with dysphagia. The intervention was carried out over a period of five consecutive days and evaluated using the RAPIDS instrument (The Royal Adelaide Prognostic Index for Dysphagic Stroke), which assesses the severity of dysphagia and aspiration risk. The findings demonstrated an increase in RAPIDS scores following the intervention, indicating an improvement in swallowing function and a reduction in aspiration risk. These results suggest that Shaker Exercise is an effective nursing intervention in the management of dysphagia among stroke patients.
