Abstract
Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ARI) is a significant health problem, especially in preschool children whose immune systems are not fully developed. ARI can cause symptoms such as cough, runny nose, nasal congestion, and fever. If not treated properly, ARI can develop into serious complications that contribute greatly to the morbidity and mortality of children. Non-pharmacological interventions are safe options to reduce ARI symptoms, including common cold massage and eucalyptus inhalation therapy. Common cold massage functions to increase blood circulation, stimulate serotonin production, and reduce stress hormone levels (adrenaline) thereby increasing the body's immune response. Eucalyptus inhalation therapy has expectorant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects that can help thin secretions in the respiratory tract. This scientific paper aims to analyze a case study of the combination intervention on preschool children with ARI in RT 01 RW 10, Grogol Village, Depok. The intervention was carried out in 5 meetings for ± 10-15 minutes each meeting. The results showed a reduction in ARI symptoms such as reduced coughing frequency and easier breathing. The suggestion from this case study is the importance of educating families about the use of non-pharmacological therapy as an alternative or companion to medical treatment for early management of ARI in preschool children.
