Abstract

Patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are generally in critical condition or at risk of multiple organ system failure, which may be life-threatening. In such situations, close monitoring of physiological parameters is essential. These parameters include blood pressure, mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation levels. One non-pharmacological approach that can be implemented to help stabilize vital functions is auditory (hearing) and tactile (touch) stimulation. The purpose of this intervention is to stimulate responses from the central and autonomic nervous systems in order to maintain hemodynamic stability in patients experiencing a decreased level of consciousness. According to case study findings, positive changes in physiological parameters were observed following the administration of auditory and tactile stimuli. The monitored parameters included blood pressure, mean arterial pressure (MAP), pulse rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation levels. Therefore, it can be concluded that nursing interventions involving auditory and tactile stimulation may serve as an effective non-pharmacological strategy to help stabilize the physiological condition of unconscious patients in the ICU. This intervention is expected to support the recovery process and improve the overall prognosis of patients.
