Abstract

Premature babies are included in the vulnerable group and have a greater chance of experiencing health problems and even death because premature babies have imperfections in the function and development of body organs caused by immaturity or premature birth conditions. Special handling and care are needed to optimize the growth of premature babies. Actions that can support this goal include the use of nesting and changing the baby's sleeping position to the prone position. This study aims to analyze the application of the prone position and the provision of nesting in premature babies. The method used in this study is a case study using 2 samples, namely managed and resume patients in the NICU room of RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. The tools used are baby scales and baby weight observation sheets. The intervention was carried out for 4-5 days and the results obtained were a weight gain of 42.5 grams in the last three days each day in managed patients and 23.75 grams in the last three days each day in resume patients. Providing this intervention has been proven to support the growth of premature babies. It is hoped that nurses will be able to apply this method in accordance with the applicable SOP and are appropriate to support the growth of premature babies in the NICU room.
