Abstract

Nausea are symptoms that are often found in patients who come to the Emergency Department (ED). Nausea with vomiting that occurs continuously can cause serious physical complications and has a greater tendency to readmission within 30 days after discharge from the hospital. Management of nausea is generally done pharmacologically, but long-term use of antiemetic drugs can cause side effects. One non-pharmacological approach that has minimal side effects is the acupressure technique at point P6. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of P6 point acupressure in reducing nausea in patients in the emergency room. The level of nausea and vomiting was measured using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) with a scale of 0 to 10. Acupressure of point P6 was performed on both patients after the administration of antimietic drugs. The results of the analysis showed that the administration of P6 acupressure was able to reduce the level of nausea in patients with various clinical conditions such as gastritis and vertigo.
