Abstract
Sleep quality is the condition when a person can fall asleep without waking up repeatedly and return to sleep without experiencing difficulty. Efforts to improve the quality of sleep of ICU patients are very important because they have an impact on increasing the risk of infection, complications, and mortality. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of music therapy on sleep quality before and after intervention. Method: case study with research subjects, namely ICU patients who experience sleep disorders and are given music therapy interventions for three consecutive days. Measurement of sleep quality using the Richard Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ) instrument and sleep tracker application. Results: There was an improvement in sleep quality in managed and resume patients after being given the intervention which was originally RCSQ score 3.8 with poor sleep quality interpretation to 7.2 (good sleep) and score on sleep tracker application 77 (very good sleep quality). Whereas in resume patients, the initial RCSQ score of 4.2 (poor sleep) increased to 7.4 (good sleep) and a score on the application of 78 (good sleep quality). Conclusion: Music therapy can overcome the problem of sleep pattern disorders in ICU patients. Recommendation: The application of this music therapy intervention is expected to be used as a complementary therapy to improve sleep quality in patients in the intensive care unit.
