Abstract

Labor is the birth of a baby and placenta from the birth canal that has entered term. Vaginal delivery occurs influenced by 5P (Power, Passenger, Passage, Psychological, Helper). The lack of elasticity of the perineum and the lack of strength of the mother during the labor process can be factors in the occurrence of tears in the perineum so that in some cases vaginal episiotomy is performed to open a wider birth canal. Generally, episiotomy can cause postpartum discomfort in the form of acute pain in the stitches, so that it will have an impact on the mother's psychology which causes increased fear and anxiety. Episiotomy pain experienced by postpartum mothers can be overcome, one of which is with lavender oil therapy and ice compresses. This case study aims to analyze the application of evidence-based practice in the form of lavender oil therapy and ice compresses in postpartum mothers with episiotomy pain. The application of this application is carried out with 2 actions for 10-15 minutes. In addition to pain measured using VAS, this case study also measures the wound healing process using the REEDA scale. The results of the study showed that there was a decrease in pain and REEDA scores in patients with lavender oil therapy intervention before the intervention from a score of 5 for pain and 4 for REEDA, to 3 for pain and 2 for REEDA. Meanwhile, for patients who were given ice compress therapy, there was a decrease in the VAS score from 6 to 2, and for the REEDA score from 4 to 3. Based on these findings, it is hoped that this intervention can be one of the complementary therapies used to overcome pain in postpartum mothers with episiotomy.
