Abstract
The postpartum period is a critical period for mothers after childbirth. As part of the adaptation process, mothers experience changes, including physical, emotional and social changes as part of the adaptation process. Primiparous mothers, in particular, often feel anxiety related to their new role as mothers and caring for their newborns. If not treated effectively, this anxiety can negatively impact the formation of bonds between mother and baby, inhibit breastfeeding, and even increase the risk of postpartum depression and harm to the baby. This Final Scientific Paper aims to analyze the effect of Slow-Stroke Back Massage on reducing anxiety levels in mothers in the fourth stage of labor. This study involved two primiparous postpartum mothers who experienced severe anxiety based on the results of measurements using the STAI-S instrument. After the Slow-Stroke Back Massage intervention, on the third day there was a decrease in anxiety levels in both mothers to the mild anxiety category. Based on these findings, Slow-Stroke Back Massage is suggested as one of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce anxiety in primiparous postpartum mothers.
