Abstract
Hypertension is a common health problem in the elderly and requires a comprehensive management approach. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM) therapy as a non- pharmacological intervention in lowering blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension. The method used is evidence-based nursing intervention with the implementation of SSBM therapy for 9 sessions in two elderly hypertensive respondents. The results showed a significant decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, especially in respondents with higher initial blood pressure. SSBM therapy provides a relaxation effect that helps stabilize blood pressure gradually and can be easily applied by nurses and families. In conclusion, SSBM therapy is effective as part of a holistic approach in managing hypertension in the elderly, has the potential to reduce the risk of complications and improve quality of life. This study recommends the implementation of SSBM therapy as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention for elderly hypertensive patients. Keywords: Hypertension, Elderly, Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM)
