Abstract

Hernia is one of the most common surgical cases that often requires operative procedures, with spinal anesthesia being a commonly used anesthetic method. Patients who undergo spinal anesthesia typically experience reduced mobility of the lower extremities, which is assessed using the Bromage Score. This functional decline can prolong the recovery time in the Recovery Room. One intervention that can be implemented to accelerate motor recovery is passive Range of Motion (ROM) exercises of the lower extremities. This scientific paper aims to analyze nursing care for post-spinal anesthesia patients through the application of passive ROM exercises to accelerate early mobilization in the recovery room. The intervention involved administering scheduled passive ROM exercises and monitoring the Bromage Score every 15 minutes. The results showed that both patients experienced an improvement in their Bromage Score to level 2 in less than one hour. The first patient reached a score of 2 within 45 minutes, while the second patient did so in 60 minutes. These findings indicate that passive ROM exercises can accelerate the recovery of motor function in the lower extremities. In conclusion, this scientific paper demonstrates that passive ROM exercises of the lower extremities are effective in promoting motor recovery in post-spinal anesthesia patients in the recovery room. Passive ROM intervention should be incorporated as part of standard care in the recovery room to enhance patient recovery after spinal anesthesia.
