Abstract

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the traditional face-to-face learning model into distance learning, which has now evolved into a hybrid learning model. This transition has impacted students' learning motivation, influenced by various factors, including parental parenting styles and peer support. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental parenting styles and peer support with students' learning motivation during hybrid learning in the post-pandemic era. Methods: This analytical observational study employed a cross-sectional design. The subjects were students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta, class of 2021 and 2022, with a total of 104 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data collection was conducted using validated questionnaires on parenting styles, peer support, and the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Data analysis was performed using Chi-square and Fisher’s Exact Test. Results: The majority of respondents were female (76%) and were raised under a democratic parenting style (92.3%). About 73.1% of the students had low peer support, while most of the students exhibited high learning motivation (77.9%). There was a significant relationship between parental parenting styles and students' learning motivation (p = 0.01). However, no significant relationship was found between peer support and learning motivation (p = 0.246). Conclusion: Democratic parenting styles significantly contribute to students' learning motivation, while peer support does not show a significant relationship
