Abstract

This research discusses Indonesia's economic diplomacy efforts through the Dubai Expo event in 2020 - 2022, using the theories of economic diplomacy, commercial diplomacy and nation branding. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method, with 3 data analysis methods, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. Data was collected through a focus group discussion process and the use of news media, press releases and video media as research supporting data. The research is based on basic problems in Indonesia's economic diplomacy, economy and tourism which are less effective in bringing results, as well as the decreasing effectiveness of these three sectors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so that new, more coordinated economic diplomacy efforts are needed to obtain economic gains for Indonesia. The research results show that Indonesia's economic diplomacy actions have succeeded in bringing about various investment commitments, trade agreements and treaties, and commodity sales. These various achievements are the result of structured coordination between various ministries and the Indonesian government as state actors, with private companies as non-state actors.
