Abstract

The quality of life among the elderly is affected by several factors, including chronic diseases. Among elderly with hypertension, a poorer quality of life and a decline in quality of life due to hypertension symptoms. This study aims to determine the factors influencing the quality of life of elderly with hypertension at Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia Social Home, DKI Jakarta. Using a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, data were collected in December 2024 from 110 participants through stratified sampling. Data analysis was performed using Cox regression test. The results showed that 76.36% had a good quality of life, while 23.64% had a poor quality of life. Bivariate analysis revealed that physical activity (crudePR 5.92, 95% CI 2.18–16.4), smoking status (crudePR 2.40, 95% CI 1.20–4.79), stage of hypertension (crudePR 6.59, 95% CI 3.23–13.44), and depression level (crudePR 5.78, 95% CI 1.92–17.41) were associated with the quality of life of elderly with hypertension. Stage of hypertension emerged as the key factor, with an adjustedPR of 3.35 (95% CI 1.33–8.29). It is recommended to conduct regular early detection through blood pressure checks, not only for elderly diagnosed with hypertension but also for others.
