Abstract

Indonesia faces a significant climate challenge due to deforestation and land-use changes, encapsulated by the FOLU Net Sink program. This thesis delves into how a major consumer goods player, Nestlé Indonesia, supported to this national effort. The research investigates the alignment between Nestlé Indonesia's environmental commitments (2018-2023) and Indonesia's climate goals. Through the lens of green theory, we examine the company's initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and collaboration with stakeholders, including local governments and farmers. The analysis explores how government regulations and political dynamics influence Nestlé Indonesia's environmental actions. It further investigates the potential for their individual initiatives to shape environmental policy through demonstrated impact. By assessing the demonstrable impact of Nestlé Indonesia's commitments on key sectors crucial to FOLU Net Sink, the thesis aims to unveil their support to achieving Indonesia's national climate goals. This analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of Nestlé Indonesia's role as a corporate partner in supporting Indonesia's climate agenda.
