Abstract
Along with the times, popular culture has adopted many issues related to International Relations. Environmental conflict is not only a complicated issue that can occur in real life. Environmental conflicts are also often at the core of issues that develop in popular culture. One example is the movie "Princess Mononoke" by Studio Ghibli, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The movie depicts the conflict between human progress and the long-term sustainability of nature. This research aims to analyze the diplomacy strategy used by Ashitaka as an effort to resolve environmental conflicts in the film "Princess Mononoke". The method used is descriptive qualitative using primary and secondary data sources. The author uses three stages of data analysis according to Miles & Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that diplomacy carried out by Ashitaka has an important role in resolving environmental conflicts. Ashitaka demonstrates that inclusive and comprehensive mediation strategies can ease tensions, improve communication between disputing parties, and help find long-term solutions that benefit both parties.
