Abstract
Quality of life is one of the important factors that affect a person's health condition. Diabetes mellitus patients who are not properly controlled can increase the risk of developing various kinds of disease complications that can worsen the quality of life of these patients. Kartika Husada Jatiasih Hospital conducted a study to investigate the factors influencing the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and involved a sample size of at least 70 patients. The variables examined included age, gender, blood sugar levels, duration of diabetes mellitus, physical activity, food consumption, and family support. Data was collected through a primary data research instrument, the Diabetes Quality of Life questionnaire, and patient medical records. The data analysis utilized logistic regression testing. The results of the analysis revealed that blood sugar levels had a significant relationship with the quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus (p=0,043, 95% CI aPOR=5,57). Additionally, the duration of suffering did not show a significant relationship (p=0,06, 95% CI aPOR=3,86). Therefore, the study suggests that blood sugar level control is a crucial factor in improving the quality of life for adults with diabetes mellitus.
