Abstract

Hospitalization is an uncomfortable experience for children because they have to go through a process that requires children to remain in the hospital for treatment. The impact of hospitalization can cause children to feel afraid, anxious, panic, cry easily, and increase anxiety levels. Anxiety is a condition when unpleasant and disturbing emotions arise which are characterized by excessive worry and fear. Anxiety levels can be reduced in various ways, one of which is with drawing distraction therapy. This study aims to analyze the application of drawing distraction therapy to reduce anxiety levels in children during hospitalization. The application of drawing distraction therapy was carried out for 3 days with a duration of 10-15 minutes. The assessment of anxiety scores used the Children Drawing Hospital (CDH). After being given drawing therapy, there was a decrease in anxiety scores from the initial 124 (moderate) to 83 (mild). The application of drawing distraction therapy can help reduce anxiety levels in children. Nurses can apply this method as an effort to reduce children's anxiety during hospitalization.
