Abstract

This research aims to discuss the strategies carried out by NGOs Greenpeace Indonesia and WALHI in DKI Jakarta in 2023, especially regarding the issue of air pollution using the theory of political campaign strategy and advocacy theory. The research method in this study uses a qualitative method that collects primary data through interviews with several relevant informants, as well as literature studies on research related to the topic. The researcher used the stages of data analysis according to Yin (2011), namely compiling, assembling, interpreting, concluding. The results of this study reveal that Greenpeace Indonesia and WALHI use the same political campaign strategy in conducting campaigns on air pollution issues that occur. The strategy used is based on the coalition formed, namely the Capital Coalition which conducts campaigns in the form of legal advocacy to sue the government in court. In addition to legal channels, both NGOs campaign on air pollution issues through social media, news portals, art festivals, and so on. In 2023, Greenpeace and WALHI together with the Capital Coalition focus on conducting advocacy and social campaigns to urge and collect the government's promise to implement the court decision in 2021. As well as fulfilling the rights of citizens to have a clean and healthy living environment, especially non-polluted air that is at risk of endangering health and potential death.
