Abstract
This thesis aims to analyze the responsibility of endorsement recipients in virtual buying and selling agreements in Indonesia according to civil law. The main focus is on the aspects of transaction security, information accuracy, and the social impact caused by endorsement practices on social media. The research method used is normative juridical research and library research by referring to laws and regulations, literature, journals, and related research. The results of this study show that (1) Misinformation can harm consumers because their rights are not fulfilled, including the right to clear, correct and honest information in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law and the Civil Code (KUHPerdata). Consumers in developing countries tend to be reluctant to file lawsuits due to the imbalance of costs and time that must be incurred, as well as their social and financial position that is not comparable to business actors, as stipulated in the Consumer Protection Law. (2) The practice of exaggerating product benefits beyond reasonable proportions is morally and ethically unacceptable, resulting in liability for businesses in maintaining a balanced relationship with consumers. This research provides important insights into the responsibilities of endorsement recipients in the context of civil law in Indonesia, as well as its implications for consumer protection and business ethics in virtual buying and selling transactions.
