Abstract
This research was conducted based on deficiencies in production effectiveness in a 30 GT capacity Fiberglass Shipyard, with demand increasing every year. It was recorded that almost 4,000 fishing vessels were needed every year from the data collected. So it was deemed important to carry out this research with the aim of optimizing the 30 GT capacity fiberglass fishing boat yard. PT Fergun Dinamika Mandiri in Tanjung Burung, Tangerang, is the focus of this research. Optimization is carried out to increase production efficiency, considering the obstacles in obtaining wood material. Research methods include literature study, data collection, and redesign of the shipyard layout using AutoCAD 2020. The research results show that the alternative layout reduces the total material handling distance from 12932.87 meters to 7260.48 meters, or 41%. Material movement effectiveness increased with a 42% time reduction, from 149.6 hours to 87.87 hours, resulting in production time savings of 61 hours. This research provides new insights into shipyard optimization, becoming a reference in increasing the production efficiency of fiberglass fishing boats. With a processing time of 92 days using the previous layout, it can be reduced to 83 days using the proposed layout.
