Abstract
Each family providing palliative care for elderly stroke patients has diverse experiences, as the conditions of the elderly they care for vary. However, a commonality often encountered is the high level of dependency of elderly stroke patients on their families. Post-stroke treatment, one of the most complex and time consuming forms of care, has been recognized by WHO as part of palliative care. This phenomenon underscores the importance of understanding family experiences in providing palliative care for elderly stroke patients. This qualitative study aims to explore these experiences in Kelurahan Limo Depok. Data were collected through interviews with nine participants who met the criteria. From the thematic analysis conducted, this study identified five themes related to family experiences in providing palliative care: fatigue, difficulties in care, constructive actions, numerous needs during caregiving, and utilization of existing support systems. The conclusion of this study shows that family support is crucial in alleviating the burden on families and improving the quality of care. For future research, it is suggested to use more diverse methods to obtain a more comprehensive and in depth understanding.
