Abstract

Self Compassion is really needed by nurses in dealing with very busy Emergency Room (IGD) situations. Emergency situations require nurses to respond quickly in dealing with patient conditions and cause an increased workload which has an impact on nurses' stress levels. The level of stress greatly influences the performance of nurses in providing services in the emergency room considering that nurses are health workers who have an important role in helping patients in the emergency room. The level of self-compassion and stress in nurses will have an impact on the quality of patient service in preventing deaths in the emergency room. The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a relationship between self compassion and stress levels in emergency room nurses at the research location. The research method used was cross sectional with a sample collection technique, namely a total sampling of 34 nurse respondents who worked in the hospital emergency unit at the research location. Univariate analysis uses the proportion test and bivariate analysis uses the Chi-Square test. The results of this study show that there is no significant relationship between self-compassion and stress levels with a p-value of 0.439 (p>0.05). It is hoped that this research will provide an overview of the extent of a nurse's self-compass and stress level in dealing with situations and conditions in the Emergency Department so that the services provided to patients can be maximal and effective.
