Abstract
This research aims to analyze how the audience interprets the depiction of anxiety disorders in Taylor Swift’s music video “Anti-Hero”. This research utilizes Stuart Hall’s audience reception theory to examine how viewers perceive and interpret the messages about anxiety disorder in the “Anti-Hero” music video. A qualitative descriptive method is employed to explore and describe the audience’s reception of anxiety disorder. Participants in this research are chosen using purposive sampling techniques to ensure they meet the criteria relevant to the research objectives. Based on the Encoding-Decoding process proposed by Stuart Hall, the research findings indicate that one informant is in a dominant reading position. Meanwhile, four other informants are in a negotiated reading position. However, no informants exhibited oppositional reading in this study.
