Abstract

PT.XYZ is a company involved in transformer manufacturing in Indonesia which supplies transformers to all around of Indonesia and even to various countries. The problem faced by the company is the imbalance in the standard oil transformer manufacturing line. The imbalance is caused by the time required to make a transformer exceeding the ideal time to make one product, operators who do not have the skills and the availability of hand tools is not balanced with the number of operators. This has the effect of increasing the cycle time for making a transformer. The purpose of this research is to identify the balance level of the standard oil transformer production line under actual conditions, and provide suggestions for improvements to improve the balance of the standard oil transformer assembly line. This research method is the Ranked Positional Weight method and the Largest Candidate Rule method. This research uses Arena software to simulate actual conditions and proposed improvements. Based on the results of data processing for actual conditions, Line Efficiency is 36%. Balance Delay level of 64% and Smoothness Index of 52,16 with 4 work stations. After data processing and analysis using the Ranked Positional Weight line balancing method, the Line Efficiency level was 72%, the Balance Delay level was 38%, and the Smoothness Index was 16.66 with 2 work stations..
