Abstract

The study explores the important role of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) credit in supporting economic growth in Indonesia, with a focus on the implementation and control of SME credit in PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. The importance of credit risk management in the banking industry, in the face of credit crashes, can affect the financial stability of banks. The method used is a quantitative descriptive approach using secondary data from financial statements and related literature. The analysis was conducted to examine credit controls, including risk management strategies and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of the analysis showed BRI's commitment to channel SME credit with significant growth but still managed credit risk well, ining the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) level of SMEs below the set limits of 5%. A comprehensive risk management strategy, including careful credit analysis, responsive restructuring policies, and holistic approach, enable BRI to effectively support SMEs growth. Based on these findings, it is recommended to develop an adaptive credit risk management model, enhance collaboration with SMEs, and strengthen the positive impact on economic growth in Indonesia.
