Abstract

This research is motivated by the development of the world of photography in society. Photography is divided into several types, one of which is street photography. Communication ethics are needed by street photographers to establish good communication with the object of the photo so that the values and norms that apply in the environment are maintained. This research aims to explain street photographers' understanding of communication ethics in taking pictures and to find out the ethics of street photographers when uploading photos to Instagram social media. The research method used is qualitative with the type of case study research. The data collection techniques used in this research are in-depth interviews with members of the Bogor Photography Community and direct observation of street photography activities. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity techniques in this study using source triangulation. The results of this study show that there are two types of interactions carried out by street photographers when taking pictures on the street, namely asking permission at the beginning and also asking permission at the end to the object being photographed. In addition, street photographers show good communication ethics to objects by asking permission to upload photos to social media. The conclusion of this research is that street photographers from the Bogor Photography Community have applied communication ethics when taking pictures on the streets, by applying ethical principles, photographers can be more responsible with the values and norms that exist in society.
