Abstract
Hemodialysis is a common renal replacement therapy chosen for patients with end-stage Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Its constant and prolonged nature imposes physical, psychological, and social burdens that disrupt the patient’s quality of life. Therefore, it is important to identify factors such as stress levels, clinical factors, and sociodemographic factors that can influence the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. This study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consists of 48 CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Regional General Hospital of Banten Province using total sampling technique. Data were obtained through respondent characteristic questionnaires, the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10) to measure stress levels, and the Kidney Disease Quality of Life-36 (KDQOL-36) to measure quality of life. Univariate analysis, bivariate Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression were used for decision making. The majority of hemodialysis patients were aged ≥50 years, male, ethnic Banten, had low educational levels, were unemployed, married, funded by BPJS, had healthcare facilities located >5 km away, dialysis vintage ≤12 months, had 1 comorbidity, moderate stress levels, and good quality of life. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between stress levels and quality of life (p=0.000), while sociodemographic and clinical factors did not show significant associations with quality of life (p>0.05). Multivariate analysis indicated that stress levels were the most influential variable on quality of life with a p-value of 0.000 and an odds ratio of 12.214. For future research, it is recommended to include additional independent variables and use a larger sample size.
